What We Build
- Freshwater pair compatibility decisions with reason codes.
- Stocking, water parameter, algae-control, and planted tank planning tools.
- Species and invertebrate pages based on manually curated husbandry attributes.
TankMatcher helps freshwater aquarium keepers compare fish, shrimp, snails, plants, water parameters, and stocking plans before adding livestock.
Methodology last reviewed August 15, 2026
Pair results compare adult tank minimums, overlapping temperature, pH and GH ranges, adult-size and predator/prey risk, shrimp and snail risk, fin-nipping, territorial pressure, minimum group needs, and documented pair exceptions. The tool uses the strongest warning it finds: green for no flagged serious conflict, yellow for conditions that need deliberate management, and red for a serious conflict.
Green does not mean guaranteed safe. Fish behavior, health, sex, maturity, tank footprint, cover, filtration, maintenance, and introduction order can change a real aquarium outcome.
The site uses curated freshwater attributes and conservative rules. Underlying records carry confidence classifications, although every live result does not yet expose a complete confidence score. The site does not scrape forum text and does not publish saltwater, reef, coral, disease, medication, or treatment pages.
Questions or corrections: info@tankmatcher.com
A reviewed source or reference supports the recorded claim. When a pair-specific rule includes a direct citation, the result displays it. The citation applies to that claim, not automatically to every recommendation on the page.
A conservative planning attribute is useful but does not yet have complete claim-level source coverage. Treat it as a starting point and verify against reputable species references and observed behavior before stocking.
The record is not ready to carry a high-confidence husbandry claim. TankMatcher should not present an unverified value as professional or long-term compatibility proof.
Send the page URL, disputed value, and supporting source through the correction route. After review, an accepted correction may update the underlying attribute or pair rule rather than adding an unsupported sitewide claim.
